About The Event
Grammy Award-winning folk group The New Christy Minstrels began entertaining the American public in 1961, remaining on demand for television and live performances for decades, recording 20 albums, and selling millions of records. Now re‑launched, The New Christy Minstrels are back in full voice with a cast of fan‑favorite alumni spanning the last 50 years, ensuring that the authentic sound and spirit of original super-group remains intact. A tour-de-force of American folk music, the performers accompany themselves on 6‑string and 12-string guitars, bass guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and banjos.
The Ripon Arts League season finale features The New Christy Minstrels performing new arrangements and beloved folk classics such as “Green, Green” (It’s green they say…), “This Land is Your Land,” and “Today” (while the blossoms still cling to the vine…), all infused with the group's musical prowess, vocal harmony, and endearing, upbeat, enthusiasm.
