About The Event
The legendary Doo-Wah Riders bring high energy Country with a Cajun twist – and an equally high level of musicianship to the Ripon Arts League season finale. The Doo-Wahs are “real Country,” ace-professionals with a unique, original sound. For more than 40 years, they’ve been have been riding “their own patch of the musical range” throughout The West and beyond, across the US and overseas, showcasing their “ultra-tight” musicianship with powerful arrangements of country classics and original songs.
The five musicians are great showmen, enjoyed by audiences across the country as well as in Europe and beyond. Based in Southern California, the band has appeared in concert with Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, Asleep at the Wheel, John Denver, Travis Tritt, Loretta Lynn, Crustal Gayle, and many other Country luminaries.
How did it all begin, you ask? Well, one night after playing music at a friend's house, Kenny Lee Benson and Lindy Rasmussen stood in the parking lot and talked about country music until the wee hours of the morning. They found that they had a mutual passion for Bob Wills, Asleep at the Wheel, Guy Clark and, of course, Emmylou Harris. The two pals decided to put a band together just for "laughs."
The Doo-Wah Riders are still going strong and enjoying the "laughs" – proving that some things are meant to last in this world.
Always creating, always entertaining their fans, and always enjoying the ride, the Doo-Wah Riders keep up the pace and continue to perform more than 200 days a year. Fired up by the love for what they do, the Doo-Wah Riders will close the RAL season with a rousing performance of true Country with strings, percussion, vocals, and ebullient showmanship.
