About The Event
About the Performance
California-based national touring artist, Joni Morris, returns to RAL with her tribute show honoring beloved music legend, Patsy Cline.
One of the first country singers to cross over to the pop world, Patsy Cline charmed radio, film, and Grand Ole Opry listeners with unforgettable songs like Crazy, I Fall To Pieces, Walkin' After Midnight, Sweet Dreams, and so many more. From the early 1950s to her tragic plane crash in 1963, Patsy Cline was known for her powerful voice and the human emotions – from crazy love to heartbreak – in her songs.
Drawing from her own personal experiences, Joni Morris performs the songs of Patsy Cline with an authenticity that wows audiences across the nation, over and over again.
She captures the essence of Patsy Cline with stories, sequins on shimmering costumes, and of course, the songs. She captures the hearts of America with a true tribute to one of America’s most celebrated and influential country singers.
About the Artist
Joni Morris has always been singing -- as a child, belting out lyrics when she and her siblings had kitchen clean-up duty and joining the family in after-dinner sing-alongs -- as an adult while working and raising a family, at every chance she got.
Her music? Always Classic Country, thanks to her parents, who moved from Oklahoma to California during the Depression and raised their children to the music of country greats like. Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, George Jones, and Hank Williams.
Every stage performer recalls that magic career-defining moment.
Joni’s magic moment seemed more practical than life-changing at the time.
The flyer on a bulletin board offered voice lessons at the same time she would normally be waiting around for her kids to finish their music lessons. The choice - leafing through outdated magazines in the lobby or polishing her vocal technique a bit? Singing struck her as a much better way to spend her time! And that “magic moment” decision propelled Joni on her new career path.
With her musical spark reignited, and her confidence reinforced, Joni jumped into the music scene, performing locally with her sister as the Morris Sisters, being cast as Patsy Cline in a community theater musical, then creating her own Tribute to her Country music idol. Lauded by critics, her Tribute to Patsy Cline played an 8-week run to sold out audiences in San Francisco. Inspired by success, Joni was determined to “hit the road” with her newly formed band and show – and did so.
From that time on, with the love, support, and sound/tech prowess of her husband, Matt, Joni has never stopped touring, performing her own shows, opening for country celebrities, and bringing her favorite music to audiences in more than a thousand venues, across the country.
