A special message

to our members

On behalf of the Ripon Arts League we hope things are going well for you.  This website letter is being shared to update members and interested community members on the progress that is being made for the coming year’s concert season.

First and foremost, the RAL Board is diligently working to provide a safe venue for the upcoming season as well as top-notch concerts.  For that reason we have postponed the opening concerts and will start our season after the first of the New Year so that each of us can be properly prepared to enjoy our entertainment in a positive and safe environment.  Here are some of the things we have already done:

  • In addition to our regularly scheduled meeting in May, we have held two special meetings to discuss the needs of our performance venue.  During the closure of the Ripon Unified Schools, the high school Multi-Use Building (MUB) has been painted both inside and outside, and all areas have been disinfected.

  • Following public health guidelines, we have laid out seating with a maximum of 100 seats currently on the floor to reflect social distancing requirements and we have spoken with our excellent booking agent about the possibility of performers presenting two shorter but quality concerts on a performance night, each without an intermission.

  • We have spoken with the school district and they will assist with updated technology to sanitize seats and common areas in preparation for and between each concert.

  • Our performers are working with us so when we do get the approval to move ahead we will be ready to do so.

  • We are working with the school district to make sure we meet the guidelines of the state and San Joaquin County Public Health Department at such time as reopening is allowed.

  • We have reviewed the guidelines of national performing arts organizations to identify areas that will need to be addressed here in Ripon including: The Event Safety Alliance’s Reopening Guide, and papers from groups like The Chorus Connection entitled What Does Season Planning Look Like Amidst Covid-19?

  • We believe we can provide an excellent experience for you and know that all members will do their part as we adopt guidelines for them to follow for the enjoyment of all.

So that we can have member input before making additional decisions for the Ripon Arts League and our 2020-2021 concert season, we will be calling 2019-20 members by July 24th to get their input via a short survey.  Members of the RAL Board are assisting with this effort by making calls. Thank you on their behalf.  We would appreciate your thoughts, too.  Feel free to call.
